Wilma Fay Jennings Cheek, age 89 of Goodlettsville, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Fay was born on September 17, 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Charles Levi Jennings and the late Clara V. Chappell Jennings.
In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Miller Cheek; and brother, Harold “Sonny” Jennings.
She is survived by her children, Cristy (Matt) Ricker and Todd (Angie) Cheek; grandchildren, Tyler (Emily Kerr) Ricker, Emily (Brandon) Foltz, Rachel Ricker (Ryan Finnerty), and Spencer Rankin; great-grandchildren, Mabel Foltz and Elowyn Foltz; and sister, Judy Wiles (De); her beloved companion, Maggie; and several nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of the Nashville area, Fay was a 1950 graduate of East High School where she was a cheerleader; was a longtime member of Jackson Park Church of Christ, Shackle Island Church of Christ and Madison Church of Christ. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. The family would like say a special thank you to Sandra Barton, Julie Wimberly, Terri Tagert, Jeannie Durbec, and Susan Aamon for the great care they provided for their mother.
A Celebration of Fay’s Life will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside with her grandson, Tyler Ricker officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. A private burial will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery.
