William Anthony (Tony) Person, age 48 of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2018. He was born on October 9th, 1969, at the Abiertas Home, Quezon City, Philippines. His given name at birth was Antonio Plameras. Tony was brought to America by his two mothers, Dorothy and Pauline Person, and via the following House of Representatives Bill: S. 1675. The bill that was passed on November 16, 1971, made it possible for Tony to spend his remaining life as a citizen of the United States.
Tony leaves behind his beloved children: His son, Za Person (17), and his daughter, Zion Person (15). Tony also leaves behind his band, and his extended family, Credence Found.
Tony was a longtime Sumner County resident. He was raised in Hendersonville, and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1988. He then moved to Richmond Virginia where he attended and graduated from, Virginia Commonwealth University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. He spent his remaining years in the house where he was raised on Anchor Drive, Hendersonville.
More than anything, Tony was a father, an artist, and a musician. He enjoyed traveling extensively, especially for the purposes of studying art and enjoying good food–Italy being one of his favorite places. Tony deeply loved sharing and making music with others, and he leaves behind a legacy of profound beauty and creativity through his songs and his artwork, including the love he extended to everyone he met. He also enjoyed studying the Bible, and was a devout member of the church, Ransom Temple. He considered his church family his second home.
Tony always had a thoughtful word for everyone he met. He was gentle; he was kind; he was generous; and he was too sweet for this world.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, from 11:00am until his Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Pastor Rosemary officiating. Honorary Pallbearer will be Frank Muse. Active Pallbearers will be Sean Rhea, Richard Varno, Michael Cooper, Tracey West, Aleksey Gulyamov, Jerry Huddleston and Danny J. Brown. Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
