William Roy Birdwell

William Roy Birdwell, age 72 of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Hendersonville Medical Center.
Roy was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a very laid-back gentleman who couldn’t tell a grandchild “no”. He didn’t get in a hurry to do things, even when it drove people crazy, because that was just him. He was fascinated with types of wood, identifying trees by looking at a single leaf. For a hobby, he enjoyed collecting and hauling logs of all types.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Birdie Ann Birdwell. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda; his children, William Birdwell and Dana (Robert) Whitlow; grandchild, Katie Lynn Whitlow; sister, Brenda Lyons; niece, Jennifer Lyons; and nephew, Kevin Lyons.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, October 10 from 5 to 8pm and again on Thursday at 1pm until his Celebration of Life Service at 2pm at Austin & Bell Hendersonville with Dr. Mark Grubb officiating. Those serving as pallbearers are Robert Whitlow, Steve Keith, Kenneth Keith, Robert Keith, Jay Howell, Kevin Lyons, and Kenneth Turner. Interment will be at Crestwood Memory Gardens in Gallatin.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.
