Tippi Lynne Maddox, age 47, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Tippi was born in East Tennessee and raised in Morristown until the family moved to Hendersonville in 1985.
She was named after her maternal grandfather, who had been dubbed with the nickname of Tippy. She was a golden girl who was a bit of an outsider to some, but that made her more caring when reaching out to others.
A graduate of Hendersonville HS, she had many jobs around the city, but her favorite vocation by far was childcare. She worked with her mother, and at various daycare and teaching centers. She was fluent in sign language as well. There was one child who especially stole her heart, and his name is Jeremy.
Tippi enjoyed dining out, playing games, getting a shiny new manicure and making crafts. She adored her little dog Lexi. She had many friends, but so many more on social media; and as a survivor of Ovarian Cancer, her Teal Sisters meant a great deal to her. Though she had other health issues, she never let it get her down, and was always quick to laugh and joke. She was a loving daughter, sister, auntie and wife. She will be deeply missed.
Tippi was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Drucilla Maddox.
She is survived by husband, Alan Whitehead; brother, Tad Maddox; niece, Alexa Springsteen; nephew, Bradley Maddox; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Springsteen and Samantha Maddox.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00pm Thursday, June 24, 2021 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Danny Spano officiating.
Visitation at Green Funeral Home in Morristown, TN will be on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 9:00am until 12:00pm. Graveside services will immediately follow in the McCullough-Tieke Cemetery in Bulls Gap, TN.
