Sidney Wilson Burton

Sidney W. Burton, age 85 of Hendersonville, passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2024 at his home. Sidney was born on November 20, 1938 in Carthage, Tennessee to the late L.B. Burton and the late Willie Lamberson Burton. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Sidney Burton. 

Mr. Burton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alicia Burton; daughter, Allison Witt (Michael); grandchildren, Nathan, Jared, Katie, Madison, Sean, and Briana; and his daughter-in-law, Kelly Burton. Mr. Burton was a longtime music teacher and band director in Metro Nashville. He taught at both Maplewood High School and Goodlettsville High School over his 37 year career. 

A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Burton will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Eastwood Christian Church, 1601 Eastland Avenue in Nashville with Rev. Mark Calvert-Rosenberger officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastwood Christian Church, Fifth Avenue Uniting Church in Springfield, TN, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
