Shirley Faye McCormick passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in Gallatin, TN at the age of 73. Born on October 12, 1951in Livingston, TN, Shirley lived a full life marked by devotion to her faith, family, and community.

Shirley was a devout Christian, actively involved in her church communities at Walnut Grove Church of Christ and later at Millersville Church of Christ after moving to Gallatin. Her faith played a central role throughout her life.

She cherished her role as an educator, having graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in education. Shirley dedicated 30 years to teaching in the Overton County School System, positively impacting numerous lives at various schools throughout the county.

Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Shirley enjoyed walking, crafting, and indulging in a good mystery book. Her love for these simple pleasures was well-known among her friends and family.

Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Heather McCormick; son, Addam McCormick (Emily); grandsons, Jackson and Tucker McCormick; brother, Michael Thrasher (Norah); niece, Angelica Thrasher; nephews, Patrick Thrasher and Daniel Thrasher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Otis Thrasher and Juanita Leigh Reagan Thrasher, and her husband of 48 years, Ronald Arvis McCormick.

In accordance with her wishes, Shirley was cremated, and no services will be held. Her ashes, combined with those of her late husband, Ronald, will be scattered at sea in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to a favorite charity.
