On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, Sherry Poynter, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 64.
Sherry was born on April 26, 1956 in Pontiac, Michigan to Rachel (Johnson) Lewis and raised by her grandparents, James and Ethel Johnson. Sherry was married to Robert Gerald Poynter for 5 years until his passing; and in late 1993, she met Jeff Stricherz. Sherry and Jeff raised three daughters, Casey, Courtney and Carly. Sherry is also the proud grandmother of Shelby Whitlow. Sherry had two careers: an Administrative Assistant at MetLife for 10 plus years and another 25 plus years as the VP of Family Affairs at The Stricherz household. Sherry's love for young people drew her to support Hendersonville High School (HHS) through substitute teaching and assisting in the CDC.
Sherry is preceded in death by her brother, Kim Johnson; her husband, Robert Gerald Poynter; and her parents, James and Ethel Johnson. She is survived by her birth mother, Rachel (Johnson) Lewis; and daughters Casey Stricherz (Whitlow), Courtney Stricherz and Carly Stricherz.
Sherry's family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 11:00am until her Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm at Austin and Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville.
The funeral home asks that anyone attending the visitation to please wear a mask and refrain from any physical contact with the family such as hugs and handshakes. For your safety, all CDC guidelines are to be followed.
