Sarah Pearson Wood, age 80 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025 after a brief illness.
Sarah was born on June 25, 1944 in Talladega, Alabama to the late William Francis Pearson and the late Sarah Holderfield Pearson.
She was a pioneer in her profession, being one of the first female employees of Ernst and Young Accounting Firm in Nashville. Sarah made significant contributions throughout her career while employed with the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee State University. Sarah retired as President of Tennessee Educators Credit Union in 1998. In addition to her esteemed career in finance, Sarah was the longtime owner of Creekwood Marina in Hendersonville, a beloved local establishment that reflected her passion for the community.
A proud graduate of Auburn University in 1966, Sarah maintained a lifelong love for college sports, with a particular fondness for her alma mater. Her spirit was characterized by a deep connection to her passions and her unwavering support for her teams.
Sarah is survived by her twin sister, Susan Carter (Bob); her nephew, Scott Carter (Crystal); her niece, Candace Galbreath (Jay); and ten great nieces and nephews, who will carry on her memory and the positive impact she had on their lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wood.
A graveside service to honor Sarah's life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, March 7, 2025 at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 East Main St., Hendersonville. We will leave at 9:45 AM in procession from Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside, 104 Sanders Ferry Rd., Hendersonville.
Sarah’s service will be officiated by Dr. Scott Carter and honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ryan Williams, Jay Galbreath, Caden Carter, Keaton Carter, Crete Carter, Carter Galbreath, and Zak Galbreath.
Sarah was a lady with a very generous and giving heart.
