Robert “Bob” Wesley Walton, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away February 6, 2024. Robert was born on November 3, 1931 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Luther T. and Louise Walton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Mears and his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and George Bloodworth.
Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann Walton; daughters, Gaye Walton and Donna Gay (Keith); grandchildren, Dustin Padgett and Brandon Padgett (Sarah), great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Owen Padgett; step-children, Lindy Glaser (Alan) and Randy Porter (Stacy); step-grandchildren, Erika Porter (Matt Edwards), Ian Porter (Jennifer), and Lauren Glaser; step great-grandchildren, Emerson and Elizabeth; his niece, Nanette Bloodworth Hoover; and his beloved cats and dogs.
Robert was raised in East Nashville and graduated from East High School. During his Air Force Specialty Code training, he attended college at Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Robert was an avid fisherman, a drag racer, car collector, champion of animals, lover of warm weather, and a talented carpenter. He was known as one of the best and most innovative builders in the Nashville area and completed projects in Sumner and Williamson Counties as well as projects out of the state.
Robert never met a stranger and had the most laid back, easy spirit. He was dearly loved by many and will be missed greatly.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, February 13th from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M and Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
