Robert “Bobby” Buskaveta Fischer, age 83, of Hendersonville, TN, passed at home on Sunday, surrounded by his wife and family. Bobby was a beloved resident of Hendersonville for 61 years, where he built a life filled with love, community service, and education. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patty; his two sons, Adam (Susan) and Alex (Lori); and his cherished grandchildren, Ben, Patrick, Ethan, and Anna and nieces and nephews, Mark, Mike, Kurt, Eric, Jennifer, Tim, Tasha and Kayce.
Bobby was born on November 25, 1940 in Richmond, VA. He had an idyllic childhood growing up on the Cumberland River and what later became Old Hickory Lake in the Village of Old Hickory, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marko Buskaveta and June Margaret Fischer, his sister Mary Louise, and his brother Jim. His love of sports as a kid lived with him until death as he putted golf balls shortly before his passing. After graduating from DuPont High School, Bobby earned an engineering degree from the University of Tennessee and pursued a career in engineering. However, a yearning for a greater purpose led him to discover his true passion for teaching. He spent his career as a dedicated educator at Hendersonville High School, where he was renowned for his engaging geometry and physics classes, touching countless lives with his keen intellect and curiosity. He was an avid reader of countless books each year.
As one of Hendersonville’s founding residents, Bobby was deeply committed to his community. He served for many years on the Hendersonville Planning Commission, playing a pivotal role in guiding the town’s growth and development. Known for his love and service, Bobby embraced everyone he encountered with warmth and kindness.
Above all, Bobby will be remembered for his unwavering love for his wife Patty, their 62-year love story, and his profound adoration for his children and grandchildren. His legacy of love, service, and dedication to education will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family is touched and comforted by the abundance of outreach and comments from his former students.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21st, 2:00-5:00 pm, at Spring Haven Estate, 1 Spring Haven Ct, Hendersonville, TN. A casual Celebration of Life will be held on the front lawn at 2:15 with a reception and visitation afterwards inside the house.
In lieu of flowers, Bobby asked that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Burn Center Ohio, Nationwide Children’s Hospital or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
