Ray Allen Harper was born May 29, 1947 in Bethpage, TN and he passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Westmoreland Rehab and Nursing Center at the age of 69.
Ray was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pollis Harper; mother Aggie Mae Harper; brothers, Wesley and James Harper; sister Frances Harper and sister-in-law Nettie Harper.
Survivors include brothers, Gene Harper of Nashville and Blue (Faye) Harper of Bethpage, nieces, Elaine Keith, Janet Burk, Aggie Jane (Kent) Williams and Jean Harper; nephews, Wesley (Patty) Harper, Charles Wayne Stanley, Wayne Stanley, Larry Myers and Ricky Myers; cousin, Roy (Linda) Hayes and Jackie Stone.
Special friends also survive, Jason Harper, Michelle (Shelley) Burwell, Ashley Jared, Eli, Khloe, Leah, Bryce Hammock and Ed and Cheryl Smith.
Mr. Ray loved his cats, Mule Train, Roadhouse plus other community cats and his dogs Smokey and Stubbs.
Graveside services and interment was held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11 AM at the Bradley Cemetery in Bethpage. Pastor David Spears will officiate. Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Michelle and Shelly Burwell, Mike Williams, Ann Hudson, Judy Link and staff of Mikes Food Land, Staff of third floor at Hendersonville Medical Center, staff of Westmoreland Rehab and Nursing Center, Phillip, Miranda, Lisa, Sarah, Tricia, Carrie and staff at Price Less Foods, Dr. George Coles and Rufus and Dickie Reese.
Blue and Ray have had a small animal rescue since 1991. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and no donation is too small. Donations can be left at Mike's Food Land and Price Less Foods in Westmoreland in memory of Ray Harper.
