Matthew Alexander “Al” DeVasher, age 60 of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018.
Al was a devout Christian and loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Hendersonville High School class of 1975, a 1979 graduate of University of Tennessee, and he received an MBA from Belmont University. He was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church and the Men’s Fraternity. He loved working with children and tutoring at Walton Ferry Elementary. He was also a Real Estate Developer; and an avid sports fan of University of Tennessee, the Chicago Bears, and the Atlanta Braves. Al had a razor-sharp wit and intellect, and he loved to have fun. He loved trips to the beach with his family, the Varsity in Atlanta, classic rock music, animals, and vintage television shows: Perry Mason, Rockford Files, and Andy Griffith.
He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lucretia Maynard and sister-in-law, Angie Huddleston. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlotte DeVasher; children, Noah and Carley DeVasher; parents, Billy and Dot DeVasher; father-in-law, Dow Huddleston; stepfather-in-law, Harold Maynard; half brother-in-law, Chris Huddleston; sisters, Terry Darnell (Randy) and Jan Kolb (Jeff); nephew, Ryan Darnell (Amy) and his children Sterling and Declan; nieces, Alexandria Melton (Brian) and her children Ella Jane and Brock; Maddie and Allie Kolb; and nephew, Samuel Fountain (Alison) and his children Jazlyn and Hadley.
Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, December 1st, from 10am until 1pm at the chapel at Long Hollow Baptist Church Hendersonville. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 1pm.
