Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Lewis

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Lewis, age 94 of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. She was born in Smith County, Tennessee, to Joe W. and Mary Burford Carpenter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed sewing, cooking and crafts.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil P. Lewis. She is survived by her daughters, Doris Ann (Ben) Bush, Linda (Joe) Gibson, and Karen Lewis; her brother, Joe Ford (Alene) Carpenter; her grandchildren, Trey (Cindy) Bush, Alan (Jennifer) Bush, Kevin (Jess) Bush, Joe (Brandon) Gibson IV, Steve (Beth) Gibson, and Brenda Gibson; and her great-grandchildren, Travis, Thomas, Emma and Abby Bush, and Owen, Carolann and Callie Gibson; and her nephews, Hugh and Joel Carpenter.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, with an Easter Star Service beginning at 7:00pm; and again on Wednesday from 10:00am until her Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will include The Seasoned Shepherds of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and Hendersonville OES Chapter #477. Active Pallbearers will be Steve Gibson, Joe Gibson IV, Kevin Bush, Trey Bush, Alan Bush, Thomas Bush and Travis Bush.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to The Shriners Childrens Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
