Mary “Frances” Carter, age 89 of Hendersonville, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2017, at The Waters of Gallatin. She was born in Nashville on February 20, 1928, to John Ernest and Bessie Lue Eaton Tuttle.
Frances was a very religious person and was a Church of Christ member for over 60 years, most recently attending the Goodlettsville Church of Christ and previously a member of the Madison Church of Christ. She was the owner and operator of Fran’s Beauty Shop for 40 years. She loved to sew, make quilts, crochet and needlepoint. In her earlier years, she was an avid bowler, loved to crappie fish and she loved to Square Dance.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Tuttle. She is survived by her Husband of 70 years, James Walter Carter, Sr.; her son, James W. Carter, Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Yvonne Deaton; grandchildren Haley Nicole Carter and Michael Scott Deaton; and great-grandchild, Kannen Deaton.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Saturday from 12Noon until her Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
