Maria Virginia Mandojana Mantel, age 45, defeated ALS on July 26, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was born on February 3, 1977 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Ricardo Macros Mandojana and Ana Maria Mikkelsen Jensen Mandojana.
Born a "Military Kid", Maria grew up moving from Maryland to Germany, Hawaii, eventually Knoxville, and after college, settling in Chattanooga. There she loved being involved in the Chattanooga Rowing Club and playing with the Chattanooga Ultimate Frisbee club. She was also a Devout Catholic. She used her Masters in Education as a Teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chattanooga, and was an avid volunteer to various local charitable organizations, including "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" and "Moms for Social Justice". She also enjoyed travel, which was mostly to visit her family, including her side, which resides in Argentina. Most of all, Maria loved to take care of her three children, who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her mother, Maria is survived by her husband, Philip Mantel; children, Cecilia, Lucas, Corina; and her brothers, Jose Mandojana, and Marcos Mandojana.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Jude in Chattanooga. She will be laid to rest at Larkspur Conservation.
