Margaret Ann Freeman passed peacefully from this earth on January 24, 2025. Born June 18, 1939 in Ipswich, England, Margaret was 85 years old. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Bil Freeman, her father Earnest C. Cullum, her mother Dolly M. Cullum, and her sister Maureen Bridges. She is survived by her sister Jean Potter, her five children Kevin (Dawn), Sonya, Paula, Beth (Scottie), and Bil (Beth), twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Margaret was also “Nanny” to many she held near and dear to her heart.

Margaret and her husband Bil settled in Portland, TN after he retired from the United States Navy. There they bought some land and proceeded to raise their children on the farm they built together. Margaret had a passion for flowers, gardening and all animals. Margaret had a giving heart. Her door was always open and her table always full. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and the recipients of uncounted rounds of Nanny’s buttered toast. Margaret was an outspoken, free spirited woman who always embraced her British practicality and passions, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren, who are all thankful for the lessons and blessings she left with us. She will be greatly missed.
