Rev. Lucius B. Cato September 21, 1934 – July 20, 2018 Lucius peacefully stepped from Earth to Glory at the age of 83 in his home in Gallatin, TN surrounded by his family. Lucius will be remembered for his love of God, family, and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and papa. His friendship was treasured by many and his exemplary walk for God was a sterling example of being a Christian. He was a faithful member and an assistant pastor and later pastored for many years at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on Sibley Road in Augusta, GA, where he baptized many. He loved music and would sing any chance he had and enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s baseball games; he became known as Papa Lucius to many of the children at the ball park. He loved volunteering at Sumner Regional Hospital during the last four years of his life, which he claimed enabled him to keep his people skills sharp. He never missed a chance to be a witness and pray with people that had loved ones in the surgical area. Lucius was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lottie Adell Newman Cato. He is survived by his loving son Michael (Debbie) Cato and daughters, Sylvia Cato (Charles) Glover and Phyllis Cato Joyce, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly.
