Loy W. Martin

Loy W. Martin, age 83 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully March 12, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Loy was born on April 18, 1938 in Farmington, Kentucky to the late Preston and Orene Walston. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ben Martin; children, Kelly Wishard (Kris), Jeremy Martin (Beth) and Blake Martin; sister, Soncie Martin; and grandchildren, Erin Wishard, Lawson Wishard, Mary Claire Wishard, Kate Martin, Jon Wesley Swindle, Leighanna Martin, Sawyer Swindle, Brinson Martin, and Addison Swindle. A Celebration of Loy’s Life will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at Community Church in Hendersonville with Pastor Doug Varnado officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 4:00-7:-00 P.M. at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside and again on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Loy was a proud educator for over 30 years, most of which were spent at Hendersonville High School where she also served as Chair of the English Department. She was a proud graduate of David Lipscomb College, passionate about reading and literature having read over 100 books in 2021, enjoyed art and gardening, but most of all she was a loving wife, mother and very proud GiGi.
