Louis Allen “Louie” Winterfield, age 88 of Bethpage, Tennessee, passed away June 12, 2024 surrounded by his family. Louis was born in a log cabin in Parma, Ohio on July 19, 1935 to the late Louis and Violet (Day) Winterfeld. He married Patricia Patterson on January 21, 1959, they had four children, and Patricia passed away in 1993.
Louie joined the United States Air Force, serving as a Navigator in Vietnam. He served his country for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement in 1977, the family moved to Denver where for 2 years, he operated Tom’s Eat a Snack. The family settled in Colorado Springs, CO in 1979 where he opened Stag Tobacconist, which he owned and operated for 36 years.
He married his soulmate, Andrea (Joseph) Brown of New York on December 29, 1995. The couple moved to their resort farm in Bethpage, Tennessee in 2005.
A loving and adored husband, father to 4 children and 4 stepchildren, grandfather to 9, great-grandfather to 14, and a recent great great-grandfather of 1, he will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Winterfield; sister, Irene Winterfield, and brother, Bob Winterfeld. Louie is survived by his wife, Andrea Winterfield; children, Nathan Winterfield (Joan) of Colorado Springs, CO, Louis Winterfield, Jr. (Barb) of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Hallie Mansfield (Randy) of Peyton, CO; stepchildren, Wendy Holzer (Lyle) of Wilmington, NY, Karen Lambert (Pat) of Saugerties, NY, Glenn Brown, Jr. of Burlington, VT, and Kevin Brown (Janice) of Catskill, NY; sister, Ruth Kalman of Sullivan, OH; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethpage Community Church with Pastor David Woodard officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Louie will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. MST at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department or Bethpage Community Church in memory of Louie.
