Lewis Lee Engles, age 73 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He taught in the Sumner County School System for forty years, and was a church organist for sixty years in Davidson and Sumner Counties. He was a long time member of the Hendersonville Rotary Club, the Nashville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, graduate of Peabody College, and received his Master’s Degree from Belmont.
He is preceded in death by parents, James & Leah Engles. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Grubbs Engles; brother, Jimmy (May) Engles, Jr.; brother-in-law, Geno (Deborah) Grubbs; several nieces and nephews & great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Saturday, January 21 from 12:00 noon until his Celebration of Life Service time at 1:00 PM at the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Hutchinson officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Hendersonville Morning Rotary Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s palliative care unit.
