December 27, 1960 — March 25, 2025

Nashville, Tennesse

Larry Ray Newlon, Jr., age 64 of Nashville, passed away March 25, 2025. Larry was born on December 27, 1960 in Nashville, Tennessee to Larry Ray Newlon, Sr. and Donna Carol Sanders.

His parents were teenagers and the three of them grew up together. Larry could walk and talk at age 9 months and certainly never lost his gift of conversation. He was 18 months old when his Dad graduated from East High School and he was yelling “Daddy” when Larry, Sr. was walking in the graduation procession.

Larry was artistic from an early age and had a successful career as a graphic designer. He graduated from Goodlettsville High School and MTSU.

Some of his notable work can be seen on the labels of the wine bottles at Belle Meade Mansion Winery. He also contributed his talents in helping to create the Journey to Jubilee which can be viewed at the mansion.

He had a wide, but close circle of friends who would always describe him as the consummate good guy. He was an excellent cook. He made up for his trying to cook breakfast at age three and causing a fire in the kitchen. He was a political nerd and frequent viewer of C-Span. He loved music and was always up to date on current cars. He had an amazing memory. His grandfather took him to the circus when he was four years old, Grandaddy could not remember where he parked the car, but Larry was able to lead him to the exact spot.

Larry loved dogs and continued to grieve the loss of his Boston Bull Terrier, Roxy, for many years. He dearly loved his dog Papi and his best friend’s dog, Libby.

He is survived by his father, Larry Newlon, Sr.; his uncle, Ronny Newlon; aunts, Deborah Newlon Palmer and Sherrie Sanders Hamer; nephew, Josh Grisham as well as numerous cousins; and his best friend, LeBron Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his sister, Lesa Newlon Grisham.

Larry was so loved and the loss of his presence on this earth is strongly felt by all who knew him. Rest on high sweet man.

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
