John Lewis Allen III

May 18, 1949 — August 10, 2024

Hendersonville, Tennessee

John Lewis Allen III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated Navy veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on August 10, 2024, at the age of 75. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who cherished him. John was born on May 18, 1949, and devoted a significant part of his life to serving his country in the United States Navy. His unwavering dedication, leadership, and a deep sense of duty were values he carried with him throughout his life.

John's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Connie, with whom he shared 54 years of a loving and fulfilling marriage. Their partnership was a model of enduring love and mutual support. John was a proud father to his two children, Stephanie and Johnny, and his greatest joy was watching them grow into successful and compassionate adults.

In recent years, John’s role as a grandfather brought him immense happiness. He found immense pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren—Zackery, Isabella, Olivia, Quinn, Elizabeth, and Emma—whom he adored. His playful spirit, warm hugs, and joke telling created cherished memories that will be treasured by his family.

John had a remarkable talent for bringing joy to those around him with his quick wit and love for telling jokes. He had an incredible ability to brighten any room with his humor and infectious laughter. His passion for playing golf was a source of great enjoyment, and he cherished the countless hours spent on the green with friends and family.

John was also a devout believer, and his faith was central to his life. His commitment to worshiping God and living a life of kindness and integrity were evident in all he did. He was an active member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in the church choir.

John is survived by his loving wife, Connie Lutz Allen; his children, Stephanie Willis (and her husband Marty), and Johnny Allen (and his wife Amy); his cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, Quinn, Elizabeth, and Emma; and his siblings, who also mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis Allen II and Barbara Mae Clark, and his grandson, Zackery Tyler Lewis Allen.

A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at First Baptist Church Hendersonville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by visiting www.lls.org.
