Joe Layne Sims

Joe Layne Sims, age 85 of Gallatin, TN passed from this life on May 5, 2019 at NHC Place in Gallatin.  He was born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Joe C. and Myrtle Sims. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Lougene Wells Sims of Gallatin, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, close friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wayne Sims and Gerald Sims and three sisters, Wilma Baker, Alma Jean Gravins and Daisy Gassaway. Joe loved Lougene most of all.  They enjoyed Southern Gospel music together and vacations with friends.  He enjoyed life and fellowship with those he loved. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11 am at the Gallatin First Baptist Church located at 205 E Main St, Gallatin, TN and officiated by Senior Adults Minister Mike Corbin.  Visitation will be at the church from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 and from 9 am until service time on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Gallatin First Baptist Homebound Ministry. There will be a short graveside service and burial at 3:30 pm in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph, KY.  Arrangements are under the direction of Sumner County Funeral and Cremation Services.  615-452-9059
