Joe Allen Hubbell, Sr., age 81 of McEwen and formerly of East Nashville, passed away January 12, 2021 at his home. Joe Allen was born on April 7, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Joseph Francis Hubbell and the late Mildred Tatom. He was a graduate of East High School where he lettered in Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Track. A proud veteran of the United States Army, during his Army service Joe Allen played baseball all over Europe where he was named MVP. In recognition of his MVP status, he was a guest of the New York Yankees at the 1961 World Series, following this he was drafted out of the Army by the New York Yankees. Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Lena Evans who raised him. He is survived by his children, Jay Hubbell (Penny), Allen Hubbell (Leslie), Tatom Hubbell, and Dirk Hubbell; former wife and companion, Becky Hubbell; grandchildren, Tyler Hubbell (Ashley), Jordyn Steveson (Kyle), Jayme Hubbell, Hailey Hubbell, and Aaron Hubbell; and great-grandson, Jackson Wyatt Hubbell; sister, Pat Gray; and step-mother, Lill Hubbell. A visitation for Joe Allen will be held on Monday, January 18th from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Rd., Nashville.
