Jerry Randy Hardcastle, age 69 of Hendersonville, TN passed away March 7, 2022. He was born in Jackson County, TN on May 28, 1952 to the late Hooper and Jettie Hardcastle.
Jerry leaves behind quite a legacy. He was loved by his family, friends and co-workers that will remember his smile, his sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone at any time. He never met a stranger as the saying goes and with his happy-go-lucky attitude, he was always just a good guy, having a good time. He met his wife, Elaine, when they attended Highland Heights Jr High School in East Nashville. It was at this point he began letting her know just what an incredible catch he was. They have been essentially together since their high school days, over 50 years.
He was quite the athlete while attending school and continuing to play in park leagues and church leagues for most of his life. He loved classic cars and might have been known to do a little drag racing in his earlier years... and he usually won. In the spirit of doing what you love and loving what you do, he worked as a truck driver. Early on driving for Coca-Cola before becoming an owner/operator, driving tractor trailers all over the U.S. His true love in trucking was dump trucks and starting Hardcastle Trucking in his later years. He was a hard worker at everything he did and expected the same from everyone else. He had no time for slackers. He also enjoyed fishing, gambling (shhh… not too loud), and watching sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren play. He and Elaine loved traveling together and had visited most of the US. His greatest accomplishment and love was his family. He loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren more than anything.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Corky Hardcastle and Alton Hardcastle; and sister, Peggy Sircy.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Eidson Hardcastle; children, Jennifer Hardcastle (Jason) Seeley and Jeffrey Hardcastle; brothers, Billy (Betty) Hardcastle and Ralph Hardcastle; sisters, Annette Randolph and Thelma Fey; grandchildren, Chance and Emma Hardcastle, Tanner, Olivia, and Cooper Seeley; and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside with Bro. Keith Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons, Chance Hardcastle, Tanner Seeley and Cooper Seeley; all of his nephews, Roger Wiggins, Brian Harper, Danny Sullivan and all of his trucking buddies.
