James Larry Cole

September 18, 1953 — June 7, 2020

James Larry Cole, age 66 of Gallatin, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

James was born on September 18, 1953 at Nashville General Hospital in Nashville. He was the seventh child of nine siblings. He spent most of his life in Sumner County. He worked for Oscar Mayer 19 years and the rest of his career as a mechanic. His customers loved him and trusted only him to do their work.

He loved his country music and would play guitar with his family at sing-alongs. James and his wife loved singing karaoke together. He loved drag racing and pitching horseshoes. Everyone who knew him loved him because he was such a nice guy, and a funny guy that you could not be around without laughing.

He loved his family, God, and his grandbabies. Any child that met him treated him like he was their own special toy.

He is preceded in death by his father, John William and mother, Dona Choate; brother, Ray Collins; sisters, Becky Parker and Joyce Terry; brother, Wayne Cole; and his grandparents, Paul Cole and Emma Cole.

James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara Gail Cole; sons, Jammie Cole (Teresa), Jimmy Cole (Angie), Jason Trew (Lori); daughter, Stephanie McCrary (Heath); seven grandchildren, Haleigh Trew, Hayden Trew, Koltin McCrary, Michael Cole, Hannah Cole, Kayla McCrary, and Hattie-Mae Cole; brothers, Johnny Cole (Shelia), and Larry Collins (Grace); sisters, Shirley Lee and Pat Cummings; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 10 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Thursday, June 11, from 12:00pm until his Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hendersonville with Jerry Barber officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville. Pallbearers are Hayden Trew, Koltin McCrary, Michael Cole, Aaron Cole, Garrett Taylor, Chad Collins, Jimmy Cummings, Mark Colins, and Derrick Christensen.
