Harold Buford Scruggs, age 79, passed away July 15, 2022 in Palatka, Florida after an extended illness. Harold was born on July 2, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Langon Madison Scruggs and the late Mary Elizabeth Jackson Scruggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joel Madison Scruggs and brother, William Thomas Scruggs. Harold is survived by son, Harold Scruggs, Jr. of Texas; three sisters, Peggy Scruggs Smallen, Deborah Scruggs Holland (Roger) and Rita Scruggs Wiser (Dennis) all of Gallatin, Tennessee; two brothers, Joseph Dean Scruggs (Dottie) of St. Augustine, Florida and Carl Michael Scruggs (Trenton Smith) of Tampa, Florida. He also leaves behind four nieces, three nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jeanne Merwin. Harold graduated from Cumberland High School in Nashville, Tennessee; he was employed as a conductor with Rock Island Railroad from April, 1968 to July, 1986 in Fort Worth, Texas. He later relocated to Florahome, Florida where he resided for the remainder of his life. A Graveside Service honoring Harold will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville where he will be laid to rest with his family.
