Henry Quintela “Hank” Scott, age 86 of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home. He was born November 4, 1935 in Fort Stockton, Texas to the late Henry Scott Sr. and Bisenta Scott.
“Hank” as he was known to family and friends served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper/Paratrooper Instructor from 1953-1956. He served during the Korean War. Hank married Joyce Dean Carter in August of 1956 in which they remained in a strong, long marriage until today, of 65 years. He had a long career as an Automotive Vocational Teacher with Gallatin Senior High School. He retired in 2001. His interests were cars, gunsmithing and spending time with family.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and daughter, Lisa Marie Scott Young.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dean Scott; daughters, Bernadette (Roger) Holmes and Lea (Corey) Havens; grandchildren, Riley (Sarah Hooks) Holmes, Erica (Caleb) NeSmith, Morgan (Joe) Floyd, and Madison Havens; great-grandchildren, Hunter Radley, Kamryn Radley, Maddie Floyd, Charli Jo Floyd, and Crew Ryan NeSmith; many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Hank’s life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Burial will follow in the Old Brush Cemetery in Portland, TN with Corey Havens, Roger Holmes, Riley Holmes, Caleb NeSmith, Bobby Hudson, and Hunter Radley serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11 and from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m., prior to the service at the Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville.
