Gregory Cecil Garner, Jr., age 43, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020.
Greg was a loving fiancé, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was the life of every room that he walked into and had friends everywhere he went. Even in pain and illness, he radiated joy. Among his working UBS family, he was the loud happy one as he walked onto the floor every day. He also loved attending GodWhy Church and his connect group there. Even recently when he couldn’t attend in person, he was still excited to tune in on TV every week to hear the worship and message there. Now Greg also loved to eat, even when it wasn’t in his diet to do so. Despite all the candy he consumed, he had a cavity free mouth that defied the odds. Greg always made time for vacationing with his sisters and extended family. He traveled often; some of his favorite spots being Vegas and Miami. His last trip was with everyone to Miami, and it was one to remember.
Greg was largely involved in coaching youth sports with his fiancé, Jasmine Quintana. A Civitan softball coach, he was always finding ways to give, teach, and serve his students. It was nothing for him to help a young athlete in need find a pair of cleats, a bat or glove, or stay late helping them perfect their technique. Jasmine never had room in their vehicles for groceries because of all the sports equipment that Greg deemed necessary for his coaching. He will be dearly missed by his Hendersonville Softball girls, among his other baseball and basketball students.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ceriah Garner. He is survived by his fiancé of 12 years, Jasmine Quintana; parents, Kim and Eugene Washington; children, Noah Garner, Anthony Garner, Cecil Garner, Anabelle Arreaga; siblings, Aashea Washington, Genea Wyatt (Derek Wyatt) Allysse Washington (Rarrmel Atkins) Gianna Robbinson; Kariem Huggins, Kareem Armfield, Gene Washington and Cecil Garner; Mona Rodriguez (Vanessica Rodriguez); and several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, July 4, from 9am until his Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11am at Austin & Bell in Hendersonville.
The family has entrusted services to Austin and Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 104 Sanders Ferry Road, Hendersonville, TN. 615-822-4442.
