Gerald passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 at the age of 83 in his Bethpage home. He was born on August 8, 1936 in Gates, Tennessee to the late Virgil Wesley Johnson and the late Lucy Myrtle Rickard Johnson. Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Gates/Pirelli Tire after 36 years of service. He was a longtime member of Bethpage United Methodist Church where he enjoyed serving as church treasurer and as a greeter for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R.B. and Bobby Johnson; and sisters, Lucille Daniels and Jane Marlin. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Michelle "Mike" Johnson; daughters, Natalie Wade (Scot) and Martina Brooks (Jamie); grandchildren, Emily Sliger (Drew), Cameron Wade, McKale Carter, McClaine Carter, Jordan Brooks, and Tristen Brooks; great-grandchildren, Spencer Sliger and Parker Sliger; brothers, Wesley Johnson, Freddie Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Michael Johnson; and sister, Inita Locke.
