He also leaves his faithful companion, Lucy, who remained by his side through it all.
Even though Derek never married he was very close to his sisters and their families. He loved his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews as if they were his very own. He enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could. He always looked forward to celebrating birthdays and holidays with them. They will always remember him as the “Cool Uncle who always tried to make them laugh!”
Derek was a kind and gentle person who loved to ride, work on, and trade motorcycles. You also, could often find him putting together model cars of all sorts, which was his favorite hobby that he shared with Bruce. He was quite a fisherman who loved to be on the lake with his daddy and his cousin Kip.
Derek loved the Lord. He was saved as a young man through reading the Bible he received in high school from the Gideons. He read his Bible daily and he loved to listen Dr. Stanley Outlaw preach on YouTube. He was a faithful witness to all who came to visit in his last days. Although he was not able to attend church, he was faithful to support God’s work in his own way.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Stanley Outlaw, Pastor and Rev. Ed Gragg officiating.
In lieu of flowers please a donation to The Gideons or Adoration Hospice of Madison, TN in Derek’s Memory.
