Garland Richard “Stretch” Briley, age 98 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2021. Garland was born on June 28, 1923 in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late Albert R. Briley and the late Pauline Webb Briley Pinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Little Briley; and sons, Richard “Dickie” Briley and Anthony “Tony” Briley. He is survived by his sister, Doris Ann Garrett; daughters-in-law, Mary Ellen Briley and Claudia Briley; granddaughters, Lauren Robinson (Cameron) and Kara Shepard (James); great-grandchildren, Jayda, Jackson and Chloe Robinson, Beau Binkley, and Luke Shepard. Mr. Briley was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a longtime active member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. He was retired from South Central Bell with 40 years of services; following his retirement he served his community as a funeral director for many years for Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Hendersonville Church of Christ with Dr. Bill Ruhl officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 2nd from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
