Erma Jean Mayton, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023. Ms. Mayton was born in Kingston Springs, Tennessee on October 22, 1930, to the late Johnnie Hugh Midgett and the late Etta Mai Taylor Midgett.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Woodrich (Fred) of Hendersonville. Ms. Mayton was a 1949 graduate of Bellevue High School in Nashville, after high school she worked for National Life.
After the birth of her daughter, she became a stay-at-home Mom, later returning to work, many of those years with Hobbs Equipment Company where she was the Credit Manager. Ms. Mayton was an avid sports fan, she enjoyed Formula One, Indy Car and Grand Prix Racing, watching the Little League World Series, and Alabama and Titans football. Her favorite quarterback was Tom Brady. She also was a dog lover, especially of her Pomeranian, “Shoo-Shoo” and her Pom Poo, “Prissy.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 2601 Cages Bend Road, Gallatin, TN 37066.
