Elmer Ben Roddy (“Roddy”), was born August 23, 1925 in Brownsville, TN but called Jackson,
TN home. He passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Brookdale Memory Care in
Goodlettsville at the age of 94. Roddy served his country during WWII earning the Purple Heart
for combat injuries. After coming home he graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN and
became a Systems Engineer for IBM. He was a long time resident of Hendersonville, TN and
faithful member of the Indian Lake Peninsula Church (formerly Bluegrass Baptist Church). He
loved sports, building model airplanes, and his beloved country. He was happiest spending
time with his family.
Mr. Roddy was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer H. and Lucie Mai Roddy (Summers) as
well as his wife of 62 years, Jean Holt Roddy.
Survivors include his sisters, Evelyn Reed and Shirley Roddy; sons, Mark Roddy Sr. of Mt.
Juliet, TN and David (Michele) Roddy of Hendersonville, TN. Mr. Roddy had five grandchildren
and eleven great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. Mr. Roddy will be interred beside his wife at Memorial Gardens,
Hendersonville, TN.
