Dr. Jack Gregory

July 14, 1953 — October 28, 2023

Gallatin, Tennessee

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, uncle and friend, Dr. Jackie Gregory.   Jack was born in Gallatin TN on July 14, 1953 to Maggie (Grant) Gregory and Dallas Gregory.  He passed from this life October 28, 2023 at his home in Gallatin, TN, with his loving wife by his side, after a long and valiant fight with dementia and cancer.

He was a man of strong character, a mentor to many who crossed his path, and a lover of good food and good humor.  He enjoyed traveling the globe, studying history and collecting numerous items, from folk art to fine art.  He was also a lover of education, receiving his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Cumberland University and his PhD from Middle TN State University.

Jack was a Navy Veteran, and an ardent supporter of their football team, GO NAVY!  He served for many years as a Blue & Gold Officer to the Naval Academy.

He served as Vice-President of College Advancement at Martin Methodist College from 2000 to 2015, and Vice-President of Campus Life and Institutional Advancement at Cumberland University from 1996-2000.  Prior to his collegiate work, Jack was a director of several programs with the Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency from 1986-1996.  He was with the TVA from 1977-1984.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Ruth Flowers, Joy Miller and Harold Gregory, sister-in-law Doris Myers, brothers-in-law Will Flowers, Lloyd Puckett and Lynn Johnson.  In addition to his wife, Sharon Clark Gregory, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Shirley Gregory, Joyce Puckett and Pat Johnson, brothers-in-law Glenn Miller and Lee Myers, a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Jack was a man of faith and a believer in Jesus Christ. He grew up in the Gallatin Church of the Nazarene, of which his mother was a founding member.  We will have a Celebration of Life at his beloved church - The Gallatin Church of the Nazarene, on Dec. 2, 2023, at 1PM, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to:  Welcome Home Ministries and Cumberland University.
