Diana Jean Monahan

January 9, 1947 — April 22, 2021

Diana Jean (Rabel) Monahan passed away on April 22, 2021. Diana was preceded in death by her Parents, Arnold Sr. and Geraldine Rabel and her brother Arnold Rabel Jr. She is survived by her Sister, Marilyn Black, her husband of 30 plus years, Richard; Children Melanie (John) Longoria, Charles Martin Jr., and Lisa Evans, nephews Bradley and Arnold Rabel III and 5 granddaughters: Ashley, Alyssa, Amy and Elizabeth Martin and Shelby Jean Staggs.

Born in San Antonio, TX, Diane, as she was called, travelled the United States extensively when younger and lived overseas on two separate occasions on Okinawa Japan where she became known for her ability to pick out presents for travelling soldiers’ wives or girlfriends. She was an ardent supporter of the Armed services, monster movies and adopting stray people. She and Richard were also known to adopt families near Christmas and play Secret Santa for them, having the local police department deliver the gifts under the pretense that they not say where they came from.

Diane spent most of her life working in the insurance industry as well as many other side jobs. She was fond of Alabama Football, frequently causing hearing loss to her daughters when they were on the phone during games, yelling “ROLL TIDE!” spontaneously into their ears. She also loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers and hated the Dallas Cowboy for firing Tom Landry. It became a family rule not to call Diane during the games unless it was absolutely necessary. Diane will be missed by all who knew her and some who didn’t.

As per her wishes, there will not be a public service. In memorial, donations can be made to your local Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.
