Deborah Marcum English

Deborah Ann Marcum English, age 61 of Hendersonville, passed away quietly at her home on Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was a Dorm Parent at Tennessee Preparatory School for many years and was a Special Needs Aide for Sumner County Schools. Deborah loved everyone, especially her soul mate and husband, David, their children and grandchildren, her Mom and Dad, her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, sisters, her loving sister-in-law, Theresa Conrad, and niece, Tommie Leigh Martin. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and best friend, Desiree, and son-in-law Steve, who were always there to care for her; and her granddaughter, Brittany, with whom she had a special bond. It meant the world to her that her 13 year old grandson, Steve III, spent every night with her after she was placed in Hospice - many nights without sleep, just so he could watch over her. She was a "mother" to her nephews and to many others through her work. Deborah was a very giving and caring person who loved her church. So musically gifted, she could play any instrument she picked up, but especially loved to play the guitar and sing. She taught everyone in her life how to respect others and to love fully and with their whole heart. Deborah was the type of person who you could talk to about anything without fear of being judged. She was a fun person and made every day count. She touched everyone's heart and soul. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She thought of and loved her grandchildren as if they were her own kids. She never failed to tell them or others how much they meant to her and how much she loved them.

Deborah is survived by her husband of 45 years, David English; her son, David (Jennifer) English, Jr.; her daughters, Desiree (Steve) Spencer and Shannon English; her parents, Ray and Juanita Marcum; her sisters, Sandra (Tim) Woodard and Sharon Estes; and her grandchildren, Brittany English-Spencer, Steve Spencer III, David English-Spencer, Tristen English-Spencer, Marilyn English, Samantha English and David English III.

Deborah's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 11:00am until the hour of her Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Bro. Reid Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
