Charlene Overton, age 84 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 at her home. A lifelong resident of Sumner County, Charlene was born on May 2, 1938 to the late Charlie Crutcher and the late Wilma Knight Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Clyde Overton; grandson, Robert Overton; and sister, Minnie Belle Bean. Charlene is survived by her children, Jamie Overton Kirkham and Jimmy Overton (Teresa); grandchildren, Dusty Kirkham (Stephanie), Jessica Goddard (Eric), Matthew Overton (Amanda), Emily Overton Birdwell (John Austin), and Angie Overton; great-grandchildren, Savannah Kirkham, Destiny Overton, Ethan McClaren, Walt Goddard, Quinn Goddard, Landon Townsend, and Ava Kate Birdwell; and sister, Clydell White. Charlene who was known as “DaDoo” to her grandchildren and many others, was a woman of great faith and a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville and earlier First Baptist Church Gallatin; she was a hard working woman who never met a stranger; Charlene and her mother were avid Gallatin Green Wave fans and always supported Gallatin High School no matter what, they also cooked many meals over the years for civic clubs who met at City Hall. Most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was a sweet soul and loved on everybody. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Liberty Baptist Church with Jerry Willoughby and Ben Harris officiating. Interment will follow in historic Gallatin City Cemetery with Matt Overton, Dusty Kirkham, Eric Goddard, John Austin Birdwell, Ben Harris, David Brown, and Shawn Fennell serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
