Betty June Case

September 7, 1932 — December 24, 2022

Betty June (Dixon) Case, beloved matriarch of the Case family of Sumner County, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve morning. A longtime resident of Hendersonville and later Bethpage, Betty was born on September 7, 1932, in Red Boiling Springs, one of 8 children of Oscar and Elizabeth (Green) Dixon. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by her large and loving family. Betty was brought up during the Great Depression, which had a profound impact on her life (as it did all those of her generation) and was something she was always quick to remind people of, to emphasize how fortunate those of us living in these modern times truly are. Even through the struggles of life and numerous occasions of loss, she always kept a positive attitude, and her faith never wavered. She was an inspiration and an encouragement to everyone who knew her. Betty was a great lover of nature and spent many happy hours toiling in her garden and watching for the birds — particularly the hummingbirds — to come visit every morning. The most important things to her in life were her family and her strong Christian faith. Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, James Case, a longtime home builder in the Nashville area, as well as her children Larry Case and Pamela Garrett and her sons-in-law Bobby Wright and J.C. Garrett. She is survived by her daughter Patsey Wright of Bethpage; her son Tony (Michael) Case of Barrington, Rhode Island; her daughter in law Deborah Case; her much-loved sister Dorothy Carter; her dear, lifelong friend Iva Jewel Hurt; longtime family friend Pastor Gary Ferrell; her half-sisters Kathleen Merritt and Mary Travis; her grandchildren Bryan (Michelle) Wright, Martin Case, Matthew Case, Jason (Jessica) Garrett and Jessica (B.J.) Comstock; great-grandchildren Carter Garrett, Chesney Wright, Case Wright, Colton Case, Liberty Case, Josiah Case, Maisie Case, Itzy Garrett and Charlotte Comstock; and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbors, friends and fellow members of the church community. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 2, 2023 from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Betty’s name be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements Entrusted to: Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside, Hendersonville (615) 822-4442 www.sumnerfuneral.com
