Martha Anne Stephens, 89, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on February 7th, 2025 after complications of the flu. Anne was born September 14, 1935 in Hendersonville, TN, to Erlyne Faye Dillard (Andrews) and Fred Herlin Oldham. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Carolyn Faye Franklin, and son Micheal Levoy Hodges. She grew up in Gallatin and Nashville and graduated from East High School in Nashville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Gallatin, TN. `
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was generous and loved to live life and spend her spare time with friends, family, volunteering, and having adventures. Her laugh was contagious! She loved celebrations, bunco, cards, and holiday parties (hosting and attending). She was as good at decorating a living room as she was at wearing outfits and jewelry that always made a statement.
She loved Tennessee with its lakes, mountains, hills, and changing seasons. She was happy watching football or hanging out on the porch. But once in awhile she loved to travel beyond and visited lots of places around the country with family and friends. After retiring from Bob Williams Lincoln Mercury and Ford Motor Company, she volunteered her time generously at the hospital, First Baptist Church Gallatin, and as an election worker. She loved meeting her friends for lunch all around Gallatin each week for many years.
Although Anne has left her earthly home for a heavenly one, she will live on in the strength she showed us, the lessons she taught us, the love she gave us and in our smiles and laughter. She is survived by her children, Wesley Duane Hodges and Kelly Michelle Pruett; her grandchildren, Chasity Ann Brown and Amanda Leigh Aguirre (John) ; her great grandchildren, Zackory Keaton Brown, Ellie Anne Stephens, Chloe Anne Aguirre, Kelsie Michelle Stephens, Emelina Rebecca Aguirre, John Mathew Aguirre Jr.; her great great grandchild, Zayley Levoy Brown. Although there is not room here, if I could I would lists all of her nieces, nephews, and cousins. They were not just family but very dear friends, who got together as often as possible and no matter the distance they were never far from her thoughts.
Arrangements will be held Thursday February 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church 205 E Main St. Gallatin, TN 37066. Visitation begins at 10:00am and Services at 12:30pm. Afterward she will be laid to rest at Sumner Memorial Gardens beside her sister Faye.
