Allen Martin, Jr. went home to be with God on Friday November 16, 2018. Born May 12, 1937 in Uniontown, PA to Allen Martin Sr. and Carrie Martin, Allen graduated from Downey, CA High School in 1952.
He enlisted in the United States Army on May 22, 1957, stationed at Fort Ord in Marina, CA. There he served as an early warning missile technician along with his best friend, Mike Doty.
Allen went to Cal State Fullerton and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Then in Bellflower, CA he met and married Paula Cantrell on May 6, 1961. The two have remained constant companions, friends, and lovers for over 57 years.
A totally devoted family man, Allen was so very proud of all his loved ones. If Allen wasn’t with Paula or other family members he could be found working in his yard or shop. Allen also loved boating, camping, and computers. He was a very respected board member of his church.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 57½ years, Paula; daughter, Lorraine Richter (Eric) of Cumming, GA; daughter, Celeste Charilyn Criss of Hendersonville; son, Kenneth Allen Martin (Ashley) of Kernsville, NC; daughter, April Baird (Dan) of Hendersonville; sister, Jacqueline Denise Smith (Tom) of Cedar Hill, MO; Allen’s grandchildren: Rianne Mueller (Brandon) of Gainesville, GA; Summer Joy Treise (Dustin) of Alexandria, VA; Nathan John Criss of Hendersonville; Daniel Allen Criss (Rebecca) of Watertown, TN; Autumn Grace Reagan (Ryan) of Bartlett, TN; Shannon Elise Martin, Jacob Allen Martin, and Nathan Patrick Martin of Winston Salem, NC; Chelsie Ziglar of Connersville, NC; Chandler Pruitt of Charlotte, NC; Brock Yeates of Hendersonville, Austin Yeates (Jennifer) of Pulyup, WA; Drew Baird, Kyle Baird, and Daniel Baird of Hendersonville.
Loving all his grandchildren, he was also blessed with great grandchildren Gage and Addison Reagan from Bartlett, TN; Hayden Yeates of Pulyup, WA; Kensley and Grayson Ziglar from NC; Skye Treise from Alexandria, VA; niece Rachael Denise Staddler (Ron) of Imperial, MO, nephew Tom Smith Jr. of Cedar Hill, MO; great niece Hanna Gruver; and a great nephew Joshua Gruver.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, November 19th at Calvary Chapel at Long Hollow, 1001 Willis Branch Road, Goodlettsville, TN, from 5:30pm until the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 6:30pm with Pastor Jerry McAnulty officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the church of your choice.
